Mindy is the creator of Creative Child Magazine’s 2019 Educational Product of the Year, the Bee A Time Keeper® clock, a tool to help young children learn how to see and feel the passage of time. Mindy is an author-presenter to other professionals.

Mindy specializes in executive function skills, specifically time management, to help children, “see and feel the passage of time.” When children experience “what time feels like” they become better self-managers.

The strategic placement of bright colors and child-friendly critters on an analog format provide a fun, nonthreatening way to develop children’s time management, planning, transitional, and self-regulation skills. The Bee a Time Keeper™clock is beneficial for children ages 3-9 at both home and school.

Time is an abstract concept and hard for young children to understand. Typically, children are not taught time until the second grade; however, we expect younger children to understand how time moves, “You have 5 minutes,” or “Bedtime is in 15 minutes.”

Children are often unable to comply with adult requests around time, because they have no understanding of what time “feels” like. This can be frustrating for both adults and children.

• The Bee A Time Keeper® clock teaches time concepts.
• Uses colorful child-friendly visuals with cute little critters on the minute and hour hands to help children see the “sweep of time.”
• Helps children improve transition expectations

How It Works!

How To Use The Clock:

• Show the child the clock at eye level.

• Tell the child that they are going to “Bee Time Keepers®.” It is important to “Bee Time Keepers ®” so that we don’t lose time from doing the fun things.

• Show the child where the “BEE” is on the clock with your finger and say, “Look,   the BEE is on the (critters name).”

• Say, “When the BEE is on (critters name), it will be time for (say event).   Examples:

• Adult: “Let’s Bee a Time Keeper®. Look, the BEE is on the SUN. When the BEE gets to  the CATERPILLAR it will be snack time!”

• Adult: “Let’s Bee a Time Keeper®. Look, the BEE is on the LADYBUG. When the BEE  gets to the YELLOW BIRD we can read a book!”

• Adult: “Let’s Bee a Time Keeper®. Look, the BEE is on the BLUE BIRD, when the BEE  gets to the CATERPILLAR it will be time to clean up.”
